I loved helping my aunt to make something special for her mother-in-law. My Aunt Gail's mother-in-law did amazing work with 40 different foster children and she was honoring her retirement. I am amazed at people who can open their homes and hearts and let these children in. It must truly change the lives of the family and the children forever.
Special moments to remember
There are a few important moments in everyones life that change things forever. The day you get married to the one you love is certainly one to cherish.
I am an Aunt!
My twin sister Katie welcomed to the world my sweet niece Emmalyn Jane (who is named after me) The day she was born I had to mark the occasion and paint this beautiful baby girl her first painting. I am just so excited to be apart of her life. I got to go visit her a couple weeks later. I need some practice
Weddings and Dogs
A good friend of mine is getting married soon and one of her dear friends going has just had to put her beloved friend down. I was so happy to help her cheer her friend up by painting a couple pieces for her friends welcome bag. I just thought it was so sweet of her to think of someone during a busy exciting time.
For the cocktail bar my friend is having at her wedding she wanted to put a special twist on the drink selections for her guests by personalizing them to the States they are from and their sweet dog Izzy.
Bahrain and the Middle East
I was got a chance to visit Bahrain this spring. While I was in Bahrain I explored the country and enjoyed many of the restaurants. I also traveled to Abu Dhabi to visit the new Louvre and the Grand Mosque. I never thought I would be interested in Middle Eastern art, but what the area had to offer was truly incredible and I am so glad I did not miss it.
Man's best friend
I have not been so lucky in life to have a best friend in a dog, but for all the people that are so lucky and blessed enjoy every moment. Pets truly are a special gift. They know when you are sad and need to cuddle or happy and are excited to just greet you at the door. There is no greater bond, just happy to love you. This beautiful Bernese was a loyal companion of one of my close friend. She will be missed.
And some dogs are small
This cute little ball of fur is from Japan. My kid sister Julie is in Japan for a week with a few of her students. Julie is staying with this wonderful family who owns this tiny little dog. I was happy to paint her and send this to them as a thank you gift for hosting.
Oh for the love of Eames
I have been a fan of Charles and Ray Eames for a long time, ever since I saw pieces in different family homes growing up. When I was in Bahrain visiting Stephan I wanted him to feel more at home so painted a couple of our pieces as a reminder.
From one Artist studio to the next
The woman I met at an art show loves Alpacas and now as my piece hanging in her beautiful studio, which just so happens to be named after this fun animal.

Succulent Practice makes ...well getting closer to being happy with my work
Over the last few years I have loved trying to keep succulents alive. I feel like I have gotten good at growing them, however I have not mastered painting them. It is really hard to paint succulents I have found. I will not give up. It just will be my personal challenge. Hopefully I am improving, just foliage has always been a challenge.
